OUSA VOTE ON CANNABIS
A motion supporting the decriminalisation of cannabis will be put to an
Otago University Students Association student general meeting later this month.
It reads: "That we, the members of the OUSA, support a change in New
Zealand legislation to decriminalise cannabis."
Executive member Richard Page said the July 26 motion was part of an
information campaign the association was starting, which would give
students the information they needed "to make their own decisions".
"It is hoped that increased awareness of public opinion surrounding the
issue will force the Government to make changes to New Zealand's
legislation," he said in a statement.
President Andrew Campbell said cannabis law reform was a major issue and it
was important the association held a view on it.
