MEALS IN REAL TIMES
John Howard's doctored version of a booklet (part of a $16 million
anti-drugs campaign) to be sent to families throughout Australia says
"studies overseas reveal that young people from families who eat
together at least five times a week are less likely to be involved
with drugs" ("Drug campaign not hard line enough for PM", Herald, July
7).
My family ate together for breakfast and dinner every day and
sometimes lunchtimes. This means we ate together at least 15 times a
week. My son died from a heroin overdose. Obviously I got it wrong.
Perhaps if we'd only eaten together five times a week my son might
still be alive.
Parents be warned!
