NO WONDER ASSEMBLY IS SO POORLY REGARDED

SO GREEN'S MLA, Kerry Tucker, now wants to add tighter regulation on
wood burning fires and a moratorium/prohibition on interactive
gambling, to her support for a heroin shooting gallery, as her
contribution to how we Canberrans ought to live our lives.

Is it any wonder that self government and the Assembly is held in such
poor regard by the majority of the ACT population, when they are
forced to endure the antics of Ms Tucker and on occasions, other
independents, as they attempt to convince us of "the existence of
fairies at the bottom of the garden'' or some other nonsense that they
have dreamed up overnight?

I have long been amazed that in a minority government environment, the
Government and Opposition have not seen fit to join forces more often,
to extinguish the "small'' minority views of people like Ms Tucker.
After all they are only representing a handful of voters, yet manage
to bog down the proceedings of the Assembly at the expense of the 95
per cent of us who didn't vote for them, often with no result. Just a
time wasting, expensive exercise in futility.

The Greens' thinking on a variety of current issues, impacting on the
Territory, will undoubtedly ensure their demise at the next Assembly
election.

From fear of being harassed in the street by some heroin addict en
route to the shooting gallery or worse, burgling my home, I will at
that time, be sitting at my computer, in front of the log fire,
hopefully playing interactive casino games and reflecting on the
contributions Kerry Tucker, King Canute and John Howard have made to
society.

S.A. McKEE,
Theodore
