TESTS REFLECT SUPPRESSION OF LIBERTY
Editors: Regarding Forsyth Councilman Melvin Lawrence's drug test, I am not
surprised that The Macon Telegraph supports drug testing in the workplace.
Macon is at the heart of a former slave state which once blatantly
suppressed personal liberty and freedom. One can assume that
subtleartifacts of obsolete and misplaced power will linger on for a while.
However, I am amazed that the descendants of slaves should be forced to
give up bodily fluids, and yet still consider themselves to be free men.
