MP: GET TOUGHER

UNITY Party MP Dr Peter Wong has called for tougher laws regulating drug
detoxification clinics after a Smithfield woman died while undergoing
naltrexone treatment at Liverpool's Rapid Detox Centre.

Fairfield Councillor Thang Ngo, who referred the matter to the Dr Wong for
investigation, said the family of the dead woman, Thai Diem Nguyen, had
chosen to speak out to "ensure no family suffers the way they have". Mr Ngo
said he was seeking "very basic" regulations.

Dr Wong called on the Health Complaints Commission to produce an urgent
report on the matter.
