SET PEOPLE FREE

In his July 16 column, John Kanelis says: "The drug legalization argument
breaks down quickly, in my mind, when proponents suggest that it wouldn't
cost the government any more to treat the issue as a 'medical problem'
rather than a 'law-enforcement problem."'

And then he presents no figures!

Bottom line, though - who cares what the numbers are? Did the Founding
Fathers carefully compute the costs involved before drafting the Declaration
of Independence?

To paraphrase the punch line of a well-known TV commercial: "Free-dom?
Priceless." Set the people free. Legalize all drugs.
