DRUG WAR IS COSTING US DEARLY

In his July 16 column, John Kanelis sounds like he's really into the
fried-egg commercial. I thought that commercial was stupid, and most people
I know laughed at that government-sponsored propaganda.

On the more serious side, I don't think Kanelis ever mentioned marijuana; he
talks about drug legalization in terms of hard drugs like heroin and
cocaine. Most legalization proponents, I believe, are looking to legalize
soft drugs, not the hard stuff. I don't know of any country that has
legalized heroin or cocaine.

I'd like to know what Kanelis means by "losing a generation." We're losing a
generation right now in jail from this drug war.
