OPEN PLEA TO BACK HEROIN TRIAL
Some of Australia's most prominent citizens have joined forces in a
passionate plea to Victorians to embrace heroin injecting rooms. Dame
Elisabeth Murdoch, Sir Gustav Nossal and Sir Zelman Cowen join top legal
and medical minds in a paid open letter to Victorians published in today's
Herald Sun.
They urge the public to back the Bracks Government's proposed trial.
"Alone, they won't stop drug use. That is not the aim," the letter says.
"But they will probably reduce risks to everyone.
"Importantly, they will very likely reduce the heroin death toll."
