PARADOX OF "WAR"
While I don't necessarily disagree with the Adam Brickner appointment, per
se, I disagree with your July 18 editorial, "Quelling drug scourge." It is
a paradox to state that the war on drugs is ineffective in the same glowing
testimonial to this latest effort at it.
Denver residents need no "enlightenment" on the perils of drug use. The
greatest hazards are arrest; imprisonment; being shot to death by police;
loss of personal autonomy over one's own blood chemistry; denial of
personal risk taken for recreational pursuits; and now, denial of our basic
First Amendment right to beliefs.
Government-sponsored propaganda and brain washing in the guise of
"counseling" is still just that, no matter the source.
