LEGALIZE MARIJUANA; PROBLEM WILL END

To the editor:

Regarding "Marijuana strike force must battle booby traps" (July 2): I
wonder if we can eliminate the booby trapping by lifting the prohibition
that started it.

Marijuana - which has no documented deaths from overdoses - is grown legally
by adults in Spain, Switzerland and the Netherlands, where they don't suffer
from drug-related crimes.

I realize prohibition keeps our National Guardsmen and helicopter
manufacturers gainfully employed, but the money could be better spent on
education and other social programs.
