RAVE TO TAKE PLACE UNDER LARIMER SHERIFF'S RULES

July 28, 2000 - The owner of the Mishawaka Inn in Poudre Canyon and
the Larimer County Sheriff's Office have agreed on a number of
conditions that will make it possible for another all-night rave party
to be held at the inn next month.

Sheriff Jim Alderden earlier this month obtained a court order to stop
a rave party at the Mishawaka because of his concern about illegal
drug use and other problems that come with the parties.

He then placed signs on Interstate 25 stating that the rave had been
canceled.

The owner of the Mishawaka Inn complained about the sheriff's tactics
and said it cost him several thousand dollars in rental fees, but he
agreed to meet with Alderden to clear the way for future raves.

"Basically we sat down with Robin Jones, who owns the Mishawaka, and
addressed the concerns we had from a public safety aspect and signed a
agreement as to what he would do to mitigate our concerns," Alderden
said Thursday.

"One of the issues we had originally with the rave that we got the
injunction against was they were planning a thousand people there.
Well, their rated capacity is only 572. That was a concern,"

he said. "There was not going to be any law-enforcement presence at
the event. There was not going to be any medical attendants there and
this is about 25 miles from the hospital and an ambulance."

Among the conditions in the agreement signed by Jones and Alderden is
that there will be no more than 572 people at the rave, there will be
sheriff's deputies, an emergency medical technician and 16 private
security guards.

No one under age 16 will be allowed in the party and six of the
security staff members will work the door checking the pockets,
handbags and backpacks of all entering the rave. The deputies will be
notified if any controlled substances, weapons or other contraband is
found.

The first Mishawaka rave to be conducted under the new conditions will
be the Moon Dance 2000 Drug Free All Night Party that will begin at 9
p.m. Aug. 18 and end at 9 a.m. Aug. 19.

Efforts to contact Jones were unsuccessful Thursday.
