'DO THE CRIME, DO THE TIME'

In response to Jim McNulty's column on no justice for Allen Richardson:
Allen committed a crime and he must face the music.

I am a Canadian living in the U.S. and the biggest difference between
Canadians and Americans is that Americans believe that you are responsible
for what you do. Canadians always have some excuse why you should not be
responsible for your actions.

You do the crime, you do the time.

He had years to try to make this right and he made no effort to do so and
now he has gotten caught.

He certainly did the correct thing by returning to New York and now it will
be behind him.

Does the criminal justice system drop all charges against people who flee
prosecution or incarceration?

Do we drop criminal charges against people whose family members get sick?

Do we drop criminal charges against people whose employers want to keep
them employed?

Do we drop criminal charges against people who have not committed a crime
lately?

My understanding is that he was found guilty of selling LSD and he fled
incarceration.

What is happening to Allen Richardson is because of Allen Richardson's
actions and that is the end of the story!

Perhaps Canada would be a better place if citizens had to take
responsibility for their actions. Perhaps if Allen Richardson had sold
drugs to Jim McNulty's child, Jim may not be so sympathetic.
