DRUG POLICY
Would someone please tell me how providing safe sites for drug users
to get their fixes will help them to kick their habit (Drug users to
get 'safe site' for fixes, July 12)? Giving addicts a safe place only
encourages and condones their lifestyle.
Groups such as the Harm Reduction Action Society and the Vancouver
Area Network of Drug Users are arrogant to expect the public, the very
same people whom addicts victimize to support their drug habit, to
then support these shooting galleys. In all the years it has been in
operation the needle exchange hasn't halped.
Drug users need to be put into rehabilitation with intense
counselling.
