OPERATION IMPALE NAILS AMPHETAMINE RINGS

POLICE pounced on four suspects outside Carine Glades shopping centre,
Duncraig, yesterday after they busted a carpark drug exchange as part of a
crackdown on amphetamine distribution.

Tactical response group officers startled shoppers when they dragged four
men out of cars and threw them to the ground.

Witnesses said police staged a dramatic show of force as they held guns to
the men's heads and handcuffed them.

Detectives from the organised crime unit flooded the carpark. All exits
were blocked by unmarked police cars.

The raid was the climax of Operation Impale, which has been planned for
several months and designed to cripple big WA drug syndicates that profit
from amphetamine manufacture and distribution. The crackdown included raids
on 12 houses around Perth, including an amphetamine laboratory in Korbosky
Road, Lockridge.
