MALAYSIANS MUST UNITE TO FIGHT SOCIAL ILLS
THE abuse of Ecstasy pills has reached alarming proportions. We cannot
continue to stand and watch with folded arms.
Whatever affects one community will affect other communities as well. No
one is insulated.
So a joint effort to combat social ills, in whatever form, is called for.
I am glad the MCA leadership has taken a bold decision to combat this
menace. This is a welcomed move.
The party has to take on the "bad guys'' who are breaking up and destroying
our society.
We must be united in our efforts to fight any threat by people who have a
vested interest in the sale of Ecstasy pills.
The MCA has shown it is not only concerned about Chinese matters, it has
also taken a keen interest in many issues which affect the various communities.
The party's quick response to the many cases highlighted in the media bears
testimony to this.
We see this in the Langkawi Project where many Malay children are being
helped by the MCA.
The party is also in the forefront helping the Indians, the Sikhs, and
other communities.
The fight against the abuse of Ecstasy pills should not be left to the
Chinese community alone. It is the fight of the whole Malaysian community.
Let us help each other in this fight, and that includes the opposition parties.
Let us act with seriousness and decisiveness not only against the Ecstasy
threat but also against drug and alcohol abuses.
