LODGE POLICE REPORTS ON THREATS, MCA LEADERS TOLD

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA leaders who were threatened by drug peddlers should lodge
police reports, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Norian Mai said yesterday.

He said so far police had not received any reports from the party's leaders.

"This (the threat) is a very serious matter and we will conduct a thorough
investigation once a report is filed.

"My officers will go all out against those peddling drugs and Ecstasy
pills,'' he said, adding the problem must be nipped in the bud.

He was speaking to reporters at the launch of a musical entitled Bukit
Kepong Tragedy at Bukit Aman.

On Sunday, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Ling Liong Sik said some leaders had
been receiving threatening telephone calls since the party started its war
against the Ecstasy menace.

Dr Ling said those who had received anonymous calls included state
assemblymen and division leaders in Penang and Johor.
