SEVERAL DISCOS LOSE LICENCES

KUALA LUMPUR: Several discotheques in Jalan Klang Lama and Jalan Ampang
here have had their business licences revoked by Kuala Lumpur City Hall
(DBKL) recently for the availability of Ecstasy pills (a psychotropic drug)
at their premises.

Kuala Lumpur Mayor Tan Sri Kamaruzzaman Shariff said the action was taken
as the entertainment outlets had breached the regulations of their
licences, including admitting under-aged patrons.

"We will continue to conduct such operations,'' he said at a joint press
conference with Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Pandikar
Amin Mulia here yesterday.

Amin, meanwhile, said DBKL will look into problems faced by the people in
the area.

He said a new market, with a capacity for 740 traders, is being planned to
replace the existing temporary market in Bandar Baru Sentul.
