CRIME PAYS
The Narcotics Control Board has seized 859 million baht from 961 drug cases since the Forfeiture of Assets and Conspiracy Law took effect eight years ago.
Of the cases sent to the Criminal Court, 72 have been finalised with assets seized amounting to 34.89 million baht. The money was added to the board's prevention and suppression fund that stands at 42.42 million baht.
The board's asset examination panel, headed by Somchai Wongsawat, permanent secretary for justice, agreed yesterday to impound 13.5 million baht from 37 new cases of drugs.
