El Paso Police and Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission officers made seven
arrests around midnight Saturday after shutting down a late-night rave
party Downtown.

Sgt. Raul Lozano of the Police Department's Central Regional Command said
officers on bike patrol watched people enter and exit the Ohm Nightclub,
127 Pioneer Plaza.

Lozano said police and TABC officers were called to the scene and found
drugs including Rohypnol -- a strong sedative -- on the premises. Police
made three arrests for drug possession and four more for curfew violations
and minors' possession of alcohol. Several juveniles were detained; the
youngest was 15 years old.

Sunday, police would not release the names of those arrested.

"(The raid) wasn't made for the sake of it being a rave," Lozano said.
"Raves contain illegal drugs and cater to a young crowd. We make sure there
is no illegal activity taking place."

Police spokeswoman Detective Terri Chavira said the club was closed for the
evening after the raid, and all juveniles were turned over to the custody
of their parents.

Lozano said the raid was the second so far at the location.

Police previously raided the Ohm Nightclub July 30 during another rave
party, in which three people were arrested for possession of illegal drugs
or paraphernalia. Eight teens were cited for curfew violations during that
raid.

The nightclub is near the El Paso Museum of Art. It used to house Sojourns
Coffeehouse and the San Francisco Grill.
