THE CASE FOR LEGALIZED POT

Re "A Marijuana Test Case" - Letter, Oct. 11.

I AM a federal medical marijuana license holder in Canada and am
asking this writer to educate himself on this issue of regulatory
utility of cannabis.

In every cannabis-related event in our beautiful country, you will
see people like myself marching for the freedom of plants such as
cannabis. I am not an aging hippie, nor a poor disengaged student in
any sense of the word. I am a sick person who believes that not just
cannabis, but all drugs should be legalized and regulated.

What Mr. Batey refuses to see is that the people who show up at these
rallies have their freedom put at risk because of our archaic and
unjust laws. Society has made things so that our soccer moms and
business people will lose their jobs or suffer relentless backlash if
they come public.

Legalize and regulate all drugs so that our streets and our children
are safe and so that the responsible adult who chooses to imbibe, has
safe, affordable and regulated access.

It's not that difficult.
