B.C. BUD CAPER LEAVES MILITARY BLUSHING

Did We Really Say The Land Was Dull?

Well, at least the Canadian military could never be accused of shunning the
headlines, or of failing to provide material for stand-up comedians.

The latest military-related caper involves the attempted smuggling of 100
kilograms of B.C. bud across the Blaine border - aboard two of our army
vehicles.

The fact that a Richmond reserve sergeant is among five Canadians and two
Americans charged in this botched operation, gives a whole new meaning to
the term "military buddy".

"This is the first time I have encountered a Canadian military vehicle
smuggling drugs." noted U.S. Customs special agent Chuck McLeod.

We, of course, have seen it all before - in those much-loved M*A*S*H re-runs.
