TWO FACE DRUG CHARGES AFTER DARROUZETT BUST

DARROUZETT - An Amarillo woman and a Darrouzett woman were arraigned
Thursday on drug charges following the Monday search of a Darrouzett
residence.

Stephanie Liza Torrez, 20, of Amarillo and Juanita Elia Bewley, 37, of
Darrouzett were arraigned on possession of a controlled substance,
possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according
to Lipscomb County Sheriff James Robertson.

Torrez also was arraigned for two counts of burglary of a building,
Robertson said. Torrez' bond was set at $47,500 and Bewley's bond was
set at $28,000, he said. Both were still in custody at the Lipscomb
County Jail on Thursday afternoon.

Torrez, Bewley and a female juvenile were arrested Monday night after
officers from the Panhandle Regional Narcotics Drug Trafficking Task
Force and Ochiltree County and Lipscomb County sheriff's departments
executed a warrant on a residence in Darrouzett.

The juvenile was released to juvenile probation authorities.

The search of the home resulted in the confiscation of 43.2 grams of
methamphetamine, marijuana and another substance that has been sent to
the DPS lab in Lubbock for testing and identification.

Robertson said more arrests could be forthcoming.
