LAM THYE: PARENTS PLAY CRUCIAL ROLE IN DRUGS FIGHT

KUALA LUMPUR: Parents must be made aware of their crucial role in the fight
against drug and Ecstasy addiction, Pemadam vice-president Datuk Lee Lam
Thye said yesterday.

He said the power and potential of a strong family was much greater and more
meaningful than the might of the anti-drug enforcement efforts.

The country's efforts to make itself a developed and industrialised nation
also depended on the strength of the family unit, he added.

"It is becoming evident that the family unit has a crucial role to play in
the fight against drug abuse for the family is the foremost defence against
many social maladies which confront our society today,'' Lee said in a
statement.

Lee said Pemadam emphasised on the need to mobilise parents and community
groups to fight drug addiction.
