57 HELD IN RAIDS ON SIX DISCOS

KUALA LUMPUR: Police rounded up 57 people for suspected Ecstasy abuse when
they raided several discotheques here yesterday.

The suspects, aged between 20 and 40, were arrested after police raided at
least six discotheques in Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Bukit Jalil, Jalan
Pahang and Jalan Tun Razak here.

All of them were taken to city contingent headquarters to undergo urine tests.

It is learnt that only seven tested positive.

City narcotics chief Asst Comm Ayob Mohammad confirmed the arrests and said
that such operations were ongoing.

In another case, he said that police arrested two men in separate raids and
recovered 60 Ecstasy pills and 250gm of heroin here on Aug 23.

ACP Ayob urged the public, especially political parties, to come forward
with information on suspected drug "hot spots'' in the city.
