LET HIM SPEAK

I disagree with your Aug. 26 characterization of New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson.

While the governor's "monotonous support" for "telling the truth" to anyone
who'll listen might upset the ears of your editorial staff, legal reform
associated with this nation's failed drug war is one of the most important
and most ignored issues in both national and local political agendas.

I applaud Gov. Johnson's vocal activism and pray that others may be as
courageous as he, even if it means the awful torture of being subject to
petty criticism by the editorial staff at a newspaper out of his, and its
own, political jurisdiction.
