NO TREATMENT, THANKS

The mote of drug prohibition is firmly lodged in the eyes of the editors of
the National Post if they believe using the coercive force of the state
begets "volunteers" for drug treatment ("This is Not a Fix", Sept. 2). Using
the threat of incarceration to "encourage" drug users to enroll in
soul-saving programs is eerily similar to using the threat of burning at
the stake to "encourage" heretics to "voluntarily" accept Jesus Christ as
their saviour.

Treating people who don't want treatment is called persecution. Wouldn't it
be better not to persecute them in the first place?
