W-JCC SCHOOLS TO RELEASE INFORMATION ON STUDENT SUBSTANCE ABUSE
WILLIAMSBURG -- Williamsburg-area students may be drinking, smoking
and using prescription drugs more than they did in 2003, according to
a release from the Williamsburg-James City County school district and
the Historic Triangle Substance Abuse Coalition.
New research suggests a "significant increase" in substance abuse
locally, according to information from the school district
announcing that both groups will release more details about the
research next Tuesday.
W-JCC's voluntary random student drug testing program began this
school year as an attempt to curb student drug use. Students who
elected to participate in the program haven't been tested so far
this year because W-JCC hasn't yet picked an agency to administer the tests.
