HIP HOP COP GETS TIME TO RHYME IN JAIL
A disgraced NYPD narcotics officer is facing at least 3 1/2 years in
prison after he was convicted in a scheme to stick up drug dealers.
A Manhattan Supreme Court jury took less than a day yesterday to
reach guilty verdicts for ex-cop Donald Medard - a hanger-on in the
rap scene dubbed the "Hip-Hop Cop" - and co-defendant Michael Jacob.
Both were convicted of possession of weapons with intent to use them.
The key witness was another suspect, Claude Dorsica, who testified in
hopes of a lighter sentence.
He said that on the night the cop and his co-defendants were busted
in Medard's car in Washington Heights, the group had planned to roll
down the tinted windows and stick a gun in the face of a drug dealer
who'd promised to sell them $5,500 in marijuana.
They had planned to steal the weed and drive off, Dorsica said, but
the plot was aborted when someone called 911.
Arriving cops saw Medard flashing his badge, insisting, "I'm on the
job," and appearing to reach for his service weapon.
