HUGE MARIJUANA BUST REPORTED
PAGO PAGO, American Samoa -- Officials here have reported the biggest marijuana bust in the history of the U.S. territory.
Chief Customs Officer Galu Satele said an estimated $750,000 worth of marijuana was found Thursday aboard the Samoa government-owned cargo vessel MV Lady Naomi.
The marijuana was compacted in five plastic bags that were bound with duct tape and stored inside large vinyl bags of taro.
An unidentified man was waiting for the taro shipment when the vessel arrived from Samoa's capital of Apia. The man left the scene, but was later questioned by police. No arrests were made.
