POLICE VIEWS IMMORAL
I found the views of Lt. Bill Housley, in the article entitled "Madison
police say they will take student marijuana use seriously," absolutely
offensive.
There is no reason that students should be arrested and put in jail or on
probation for the "crime" of smoking pot. Our nation's drug policy is the
laughingstock of the industrialized world. The imprisonment of American
citizens for marijuana-related offenses is a crime against humanity.
If Lt. Housley were truly concerned for the welfare of students, he would
work to stop the scourge of the war on drugs, instead of trying to impose
his authoritarian views of morality by threat and force.
