HELP ADDICTS RECOVER

During the month of September, Illinois is joining the nation in observance
of National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month. This year, we are
focusing on the problem of addiction among our young people and the
treatment options that are available to support them on their road to
recovery and a brighter future.

We are committed to providing the most accurate information on identifying
addictive behaviors and providing access to a full range of treatment and
recovery options. Through Futures for Kids, we are trying to assist families
in identifying problems early and finding the help they need for their
children. "Futures4kids.org" is a wonderful new resource for all adults who
are interested in the future of our children.

We are all too aware of the physical and social consequences that accompany
drug use: teen pregnancy, school failure and criminal activity to name a
few. Although drug use among teens is on the decline, down 4 percent from
last year, there still are far too many young people who get into trouble
with drugs and are in need of treatment.

"Recovering our Future: One Youth at a Time" says it all. Each young person
has the potential to succeed. It is up to each one of us to see to it that
they have every opportunity to do so.

By supporting our young people who seek substance abuse treatment, we can
help them understand the reasons behind their drug use, help them defeat
their addiction and ensure they have a bright future.
