DO DRUGS, DO THE TIME

I am against Proposition 36, which sends drug abusers to rehabilitation
centers instead of jail. Drug abusers will only get the help they need when
they are ready to change.

It will not help the addict to replace punishment with mandatory treatment.
If anything, it will help reinforce the "I shouldn't be held responsible for
my actions" attitude that many addicts have.

If someone breaks the law by using illegal drugs, they should do their time
in jail, like anyone else who breaks the law.
