EYES ON DRUG PARAPHERNALIA SALES
Abbotsford council is looking at ways to crack down on stores selling
goods that relate to the drug industry.
At the request of Coun. Simon Gibson, a report addressing the issue
will now be written-up by city staff and returned to council within 90
days.
"There's a growing concern with regard to the expansion of stores
selling drug paraphernalia," Gibson told councillors at their
executive committee meeting on Monday.
"I think it is something we would all agree is fairly
troublesome."
As a result of Gibson's comments, council agreed to authorize city
staff to work with the police department to "develop policies or
regulations to discourage or preclude stores in Abbotsford which
specialize in the sale of drug paraphernalia."
Drug paraphernalia is defined as being any legitimate equipment,
product, or material that is modified for making, using, or concealing
illegal drugs.
