POLICE WARN OF DRUG

Police are warning ecstasy users to beware of another illicit new drug,
known as Death, that raises the body's internal temperature to deadly
levels, police said. The drug, PMA or paramethoxyamphetamine, is sold in
the form of a small white pill the size of an Aspirin and is stamped with
three diamond shapes connected at a common point, police said. PMA is sold
on the streets as ecstasy, an illicit amphetamine-based drug, and has been
linked with nine deaths in Florida and Chicago last year and 10 deaths in
Australia since 1995. Police in the GTA made four seizures of PMA over the
summer.
