FOR THE RECORD
A Friday story incorrectly reported that the California Medical Association
has endorsed Proposition 36, a statewide November ballot initiative that
would direct some people convicted of drug possession for the first and
second time to treatment rather than jail. The CMA has not endorsed the
measure.
The Union-Tribune regrets the error.
