PRISON CONTRABAND
COLONIE, N.Y.- A third corrections officer was arrested for allegedly
smuggling contraband into the Albany County Jail.
Thirty-five-year-old Dennis Quinn of Cohoes is charged with official
misconduct, conspiracy and marijuana possession. Quinn is accused of
selling food, clothing, cigarettes and other forbidden items to an inmate.
The arrest comes a week after those of Officer William Kelsey, 32, and
Officer Matthew Tortorici, 28. Kelsey planned to sneak in 40 packs of
cigarettes that would then sell for $20 a pack, investigators said. The
arrests followed a two-month investigation that also uncovered knives in
ceiling vents, fire hose boxes and other common areas. Sixteen inmates were
also named in the investigation and now face cares of promoting prison
contraband, a misdemeanor, and marijuana possession, a violation.
