DRIVING DISASTER

THE comments in the Transport Research Laboratory study about drivers on
cannabis being "mellow" and therefore driving more safely is so ludicrous
as to be laughable if it were not so serious.

Any relaxing of the law on drugs and driving would lead to more accidents.
Cannabis distorts perception of time, distance and colour - and reduces
your inhibitions.

Cannabis alone, not with alcohol, was implicated in 36.8% of fatal
accidents in a Californian study carried out as long ago as 1985.

In 1991 a famous piece of research showed that experiences pilots given a
very low THC joint to smoke were unable to land a plane safely on a flight
simulator for up to 24 hours afterwards.

The appropriate limit for drugs when driving is zero.
