PARENTS WOULD SAY KEEP DARE CAMP
To The Editor:
It has come to my attention that the DARE program is being cut back
this year. I guess what is going on in the news with all the schools
doesn't mean much to our program.
The Sheriff's Department picked a fine time to leave the kids with
nothing much to do.
I understand the classes will remain, but the extras -- camps and
dances -- have been cut. Let me guess. Our funding is not there, or
we don't have the volunteers.
I hear kids all the time talk about how much the DARE program helped
them get through the fifth grade and how much they learned. Does the
Sheriff's Department really think it made the right choice?
When it comes to the kids, parents will be behind them the whole way.
Why don't you ask them what should be cut?
I guess Rick Davis won't be needing my vote.
