CANNABIS IS FAR FROM HARMLESS

There is a trendy notion going around that cannabis is a harmless
recreational drug that merely gives users an uplift, rather like a Scotch
and soda. Nothing could be further from the truth.

A single dose of cannabis can cause an acute mental illness, when delusions,
high excitement and violence may occur. In high dosages, perception and
awareness are affected and sense of time may be altered. There is also
evidence that long-term usage can cause serious brain damage. Check with any
doctor to confirm these facts.

How much "road rage" and aggressive driving is due to cannabis use?

Use of this Indian hemp plant has caused miseries. My nephew is now a
registered drugs user, to the utter misery of his mother. He tells me that
he started on drugs by smoking, yes, cannabis. My elder son's mother-in-law
has worked in a Moss Side clinic. She has told me that many heroin addicts
passing through the clinic had all progressed from cannabis.

Cannabis was not banned by the British government to deny trendy users their
pleasures. It was banned by international convention at the request of
Middle East countries.

LibDems and others are irresponsible for demanding the de-criminalisation of
this nasty drug.
