WOULD YOU TAKE IT?

I am writing in response to your editorial regarding the mayor of Johnston
and your suggestion that our mayor take a test for drug analysis ("Take the
test, mayor," Oct. 10).

I take note that "we" indicates there is more than one of you. That shows a
lack of knowledge of our constitutional rights. May I ask one simple
question to all of you involved in writing that editorial? If you were
asked to take a drug test (with no charges against you), would you submit,
knowing that you open yourself to any future requests at any time, for any
reason? I doubt it very much.

I do admit that I am a campaign worker for the mayor, and quite proud of
him and his accomplishments in such a short time in office. I am also a
Johnston taxpayer for the last 26 years, and I served in the armed forces
of the United States to protect my constitutional rights and yours.
