ARTISTS WILL NOT GET VIP-TREATMENT

The police puts in extra resources to search for drugs at the MTV
music awards festival at the Globe.

Exactly how many policemen who will be on duty is kept
secret.

"The artists won't get any VIP-treatment," says Leif Jennekvist,
director of the county crime division in Stockholm.

Stockholm's Narcotics Task Force and at the Rave Commission's drug
squad has been strongly critical towards the south suburb police after
they said no thanks to their help during the big music event on thursday.

But since the county police chief, Gunno Gunnmo, intervened Leif
Jennekvist decided to put in "extra efforts against drug related crime
in connection with the MTV music awards".

Practically it means that the drug squads also will be in
place.

How large the surveillance effort is will not be made
public.

Will narcotics officers be inside the event as well?

"I won't answer that," says Leif Jennekvist.

"We will intervene"

What orders are sent out regarding the artists and their
helpers?

"If we would have indications that anyone who is within the territory
of Swedish law has committed drug crimes, or intends to do so, we will
intervene. The artists can not be given any VIP-treatment. It is an
important corner stone in our activity that no exception is made."
