SAN QUENTIN GUARD PLEADS GUILTY TO SMUGGLING IN DRUGS
A San Quentin Prison guard pleaded guilty Tuesday to trying to smuggle drugs
into the state prison and was sentenced to a year in jail.
Lee Beck, 40, of Pittsburg also pleaded guilty in Contra Costa Superior
Court to transporting cocaine and heroin and possessing it for sale. Judge
Michael Coleman sentenced the 17-year veteran corrections officer to the
jail term and three years' probation.
Beck was arrested Aug. 26 in Pittsburg as part of a California Department of
Corrections investigation into drug trafficking throughout the state's
prison system.
