NARCOTICS OFFICERS LAUD DICKERSON

The California Narcotics Officers Association, which provides
narcotic-enforcment-related training and education, will honor Assemblyman
Dick Dickerson as its Legislator of the Year during a conference Monday in
Long Beach.

Dickerson, a Redding Republican, was chosen because he helped kill bills
that would have eased requirements for prescriptions and would have made it
easier to obtain marijuana for medicinal use, according to a press release.

Dickerson also vigorously opposed Proposition 36, which requires treatment
rather than prosecution for drug offenders. Voters overwhelming approved
the initiative Nov. 7.
