COVINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- A member of a prominent Gallatin County family
pleaded not guilty Friday to charges of distributing marijuana and
methamphetamines.
Aundis Davis, 65, of Glencoe, whose brother is former Gallatin County
Judge-Executive Clarence Davis, was indicted by a federal grand jury last
week on two counts of marijuana distribution, two counts of methamphetamine
distribution and one count of intimidation of a witness.
He pleaded not guilty Friday at his arraignment before U.S. Magistrate
Judge J. Gregory Wehrman of Covington.
Wehrman set a trial date of Jan. 22. U.S. District Judge Jennifer B.
Coffman will hear the case in Covington. Davis remains in federal custody.
Davis was arrested Oct. 12, a day after the FBI and Kentucky State Police
said a witness, who used money with serial numbers that were recorded by
police, bought $2,200 worth of methamphetamines from Davis.
Davis is also charged with dealing methamphetamines on Oct. 9, selling
about 10 pounds of marijuana on July 18, and selling one pound of marijuana
on Sept. 5.
He is charged with intimidating the witness against him on Oct. 11. Davis
