VIDEO FOCUSES ON ILLEGAL POT

PUYALLUP, Wash. (AP) Normally, the video from Puyallup's sewers falls a
little short of must-see TV. But a tiny camera checking one of the lines
found something that wasn't supposed to be there: marijuana.

Police in this town east of Tacoma said a camera lowered Oct. 23 into a
sewer on a routine maintenance check spotted marijuana plants being flushed
into the line. Public works officials traced the plants to the home of a
30-year-old woman, then informed police, who searched the house and found 29
growing plants and 430 grams of pot, said police spokeswoman Shelby Barager.

The woman, Katherine Larson, was charged in Pierce County Superior Court
with unlawfully manufacturing a controlled substance and unlawfully
possessing it with intent to distribute.

Police said they don't know why the marijuana was being flushed down the
toilet.
