DRUG SWEEP HELD AT HIGH SCHOOLS

Bradley County Schools working with Bradley County Sheriff's Office
performed surprise narcotics and contraband sweeps at Walker Valley
and Bradley Central high schools Thursday.

"I appreciate the partnership that exists between the sheriff's
office and the Bradley County School System as we all work together
to ensure the health and safety of our students," said Sheriff Tim
Gobble. Bob Taylor, director of Bradley County Schools, said eight
K-9 officers along with 16 other law enforcement officers from BCSO
and Cleveland Police Department were utilized during the searches.

Sergeant Doug Towne of BCSO's School Resource Officer program worked
with officials to coordinate the searches.

"The Bradley County School System is committed to keeping drugs off
our campuses and we appreciate the help and support we get from local
law enforcement. It was one of our most thorough searches as for the
first time we actually went into some of the classrooms after having
removed the students," said Taylor in a printed news release.

"There were no illegal drugs found on either campus; however, a pipe
thought to have been used for smoking was found in the parking lot at
Walker Valley. At Bradley Central, on a tip turned into the office, a
car was searched which turned up two bottles of vodka as well as some
.22 bullets left in the car from a hunting trip," said Taylor.

The director noted the incident is still under investigation. Taylor
thanked those cooperating in the sweep.

"I would like to thank Sgt. Towne, Tom Losh and Danny Coggin and
their staffs for the work they do daily to keep our schools drug
free," said Taylor. Taylor also thanked Sheriff Gobble and Cleveland
Police Chief Wes Snyder for their cooperation.
