NEEDLE FARCE
THE needle exchange scheme has become a serious threat to public health.
The Government was conned when it was persuaded to commit taxpayers' money
to help drug addicts safely inject themselves with illegal and often lethal
substances.
The scheme was supposed to provide new for old, a clean needle for a bloody
one. Instead, needles are being handed out in multiples to all and sundry
without any pretence at exchange.
This is not and never was a true exchange system. Providing needle bins in
public places is also a farce. Does anyone seriously think drug addicts
care if they infect other people?
So now, thanks to the do-gooders, discarded needles are everywhere. Parents
are afraid to let their children run barefoot on our once pristine beaches.
Even taking them for a picnic in the park is a health hazard. Stop it. I
say, before we all go blind.
