LARGEST DRUG SEIZURE EVER IN NORTHLAKE
Northlake police made the largest drug seizure in its history Thursday when
they recovered bundles of cocaine in the back of a truck with a street
value of $29 million. Police were called to investigate a suspicious car in
a parking lot at Home Depot, 37 W. North. When they arrived at about 12:30
p.m., they found an unlocked rental van with the keys inside the cab,
police said. Upon further investigation, they found 520 pounds of cocaine.
The cocaine was packaged in 200 bundles, police said, adding that the truck
had been rented in Illinois.
