POT HEAD EYES PIE DEAL

The leader of Canada's Marijuana Party wants to cut a deal on his charge of
assaulting a police officer related to a Nov. 25 Parliament Hill pie attack
that went wrong.

Marc-Boris St. Maurice was to appear in Ottawa court today on the charge
stemming from an aborted cream pie attack on Emily Murphy's statue.

"Since I was unable to get to the statue I was trying to reach, I disarmed
the pie on my own face," said St. Maurice. "It was an act of mercy."

While crushing the pie on his own face, St. Maurice said some of the cream
splattered on the face and uniform of an RCMP officer who was trying to
stop him.

"I'm sorry the police officer was there to receive the consequences of my
actions," said St. Maurice. "I didn't mean any disrespect to the officer."

St. Maurice said the Marijuana Party is offering to pay the costs of
cleaning the officer's uniform in exchange for charges being dropped. The
RCMP declined comment while the matter is before the court.
