DRUG CHARGES DROPPED AFTER DRUGS DISAPPEAR

HENRIETTA - Drugs that went missing from the Clay County Sheriff's
Department have caused authorities to drop drug charges against three
people suspected of manufacturing methamphetamines.

Clay County Sheriff Paul Bevering said a one-ounce packet of
methamphetamine was stolen from an area of the department called the sally
port, a drive-through garage area where suspects are booked into jail.

The drug, which was in its finished powder form, had been stored there
along with other chemicals and equipment used to manufacture
methamphetamine seized in a Dec. 10 drug bust.
